Golf Club Bytkowo

The golf course at Bytkowo is located approximately 5 kilometers from Poznań's city limits in the Rokietnica municipality, part of Poznań county in the Wielkopolska province. The course is situated within a large nature reserve on the bank of the Samica Kierska river.

The idea of building a course at Bytkowo came about in 1997. Soon after, a search for the most suitable land in the area began. After careful analysis of various proposals, a tract of land was chosen on the southeastern slope of a local nature reserve, bordering on the small Samica Kierska river.

Between 1998 and 2000 this land was acquired and initial landscaping work began. During this period, several versions of a course design were considered. These designs were prepared with careful attention to a layout which did not change the existing natural landscape and fell within investment goals.

By 2002, five designs were being considered. In that same year Mr. Marcin Moś, a member of the Polish PGA, was asked to collaborate and consult on a final design. Appropriate changes were made and an agreed upon layout was put forward.

The course today takes full advantage of the terrain's natural beauty and shape. Irrigation and planting have helped form a truly challenging layout. Finishing touches to the course have been made by the club's British and American advisers.

Overall, the course has been designed to be fair to beginners, while presenting a serious challenge to accomplished players.

At present, final preparations are being made to open the course to the public in Spring 2004, coinciding with Poland's joining the European Union.
