Some of our guests speak English. Some of our guests speak French. But upon setting sight on Caravelle, most find themselves unable to speak at all. Instead, they watch. They listen. They take in the sights, sounds, scents and sensations of everything around them. From the rhythmic crashing of the waves against the shore to the gentle caress of the wind against their sun-warmed skin, they absorb every feeling from head to toe. And when they’ve finally come to grips with the beauty that surrounds them, they simply sigh. It’s a sound that’s understood in any language, and one that’s heard often in Caravelle.

Set close to St. Anne,12 miles from Pointe-à-Pitre on “ Grande-Terre,” one of the islands of Guadeloupe in the French West Indies.

Airport: Pointe a Pitre (PTP), 19 miles from the village (40 minute transfer). All transfers included if airfare is purchased from Club Med.

Based in Grande Terre, along one of the most beautiful golden sandy beaches in the Caribbean, the Village is grouped into several buildings. "Les Saintes": Set of single-storey bungalows, a little more secluded, located close to the traditional restaurant and the beach. The "Marie Galante" hotel, a two-storey builing with no lift, and the "Basse Terre" and "Grande Terre" hotels. In the "Basse Terre" hotel: the rooms are divided into five floors with lift. The 4th and 5th floors have sea views. The first two floors only have views of the gardens. At "Grande Terre": the rooms are divided into two floors, with no lift or balconies and with sea or garden views.

Le Colibri Located at the heart of the Village, the main bar is the perfect meeting place throughout the day.

Le Mango bar Situated on the beach, this is the place to quench your thirst in between beach volleyball and kayaking!

La Biguine Set on one of the Village's headlands, this restaurant is open at lunchtime and in the evenings, right by the waterfront. Intensive relaxation guaranteed.

L' Hibiscus The Village's main restaurant, with its unrivalled views over the sea and the beach from the terrace, and its international buffets, invites you to share a few moments of relaxation with friends or family.

Cultural & Adventure Tours (extra cost)

Basse-Terre Guided tour of the most mountainous part of Guadeloupe. The famous Carbet falls, Soufrière volcano, the "Grand Café" plantation and its traditional little restaurant, Valombreuse floral park, Basse-Terre market, the Caribbean coast with its grey sandy beaches and fishing villages. Local lunch in the heart of a banana grove.

Marie-Galante by catamaran For lovers of sailing, the sea and untouched islands. Lunch on the catamaran after travelling through the land with its wonderful Creole huts. Visit to a family-run distillery and rum tasting, visit to Habitation Murat and view of "Gueule grand gouffre".

Petite-Terre by catamaran The islands of all our dreams. A true paradise preserved by the National Forestry Office, Petite-Terre lives in harmony with nature! You will swim in turquoise waters, discover its treasures and special inhabitants: the iguanas, before enjoying a long walk on a deserted beach or, why not, discovering its remarkably untouched sea beds.

Les Saintes Dock at Terre-de-Haut, in the most beautiful bay in the West Indies! Fishermen, colourful houses, amazing population... Visit to Fort Napoleon, the exotic garden (observing the iguanas), panoramic view of the bay. Cocktail on the shores of the beach facing the Pain de Sucre, local lunch. Swimming and relaxation.

Pointe-à-Pitre In the heart of the old town and its colourful streets, stroll around the market overflowing with spices, vegetables, fruit and flowers. Taste the best punches at the Madras rum distillery. Shopping in the local shops.

Pigeon or Cousteau reserve Crossing of Basse-Terre to reach Malendure. Discovery of the sea beds in the Pigeon isles on board a glass-bottomed boat. Snorkelling, and stop on the way back in the tropical forest and swim in the Écrevisses waterfall. Visit to the Gosier aquarium.

North Basse - Terre by jeep Guided tour of the back-country by jeep: banana, pineapple and sugar cane plantations. Taste the different types of fruit. Creole lunch on the shore of a beautiful beach. Short walk in the tropical forest of North Basse-Terre.

Grande - Terre by jeep Guided tour of the East part of the island, sugar cane plantations, a variety of crops and incredible golden sandy beaches!
