For every tourist a passport is the most important document. It is important not only to carry the passport with you; the copies or scans of its informative pages may also be of use, forwarded to potentially available e-mail box. It is recommended to possess a copy of the document in case it is lost or stolen.

Before starting your trip you should check whether the period of your passport validity is longer than six months. If it is not, you may encounter problems upon trying to enter many countries, and in some cases the entry may turn out to be absolutely impossible.

Before leaving for another country you should check whether Polish citizens (or citizens of your country if your citizenship is other than Polish) require a visa.

You may be refused entry to some tropical countries if you cannot produce a valid international certificate of vaccinations.

Young people may find some cards, entitling them to discounts, useful (e.g. ISIC, Euro<26, International PTSM or IYHF card).

And if you plan to rent a card then obviously you cannot forget to take your driving license with you.
