Tourist helper - First Aid Kit

During a trip some items, that you have never thought about before leaving, may often be useful. And the most irritating thing is to forget your first aid kit as the result may turn out to be tragic. That is why we remind you: Always remember to take along your first aid kit!

The traveller's first aid kit should contain the following:

• Oral preparations
  • Analgesic agent like e.g. Apap, Codipar, Panadol, Paracetamol, Tazamol or Ibuprom, available on the market.
  • Cold medicine (Aspirin, Polopiryna, Upsarin or Gripex); and if you already have a cold do not forget Vitamin C. Some complex vitamin preparations may be used as well (e.g. Centrum)
  • If you taste a new dish it may lay heavy on your stomach; then remember preparations for stomach troubles (Carbo Medicinalis, Nifuroxazide (the best drug but available only on prescription), Maalox, Smecta, Rennie, Manti).
• Preparations for external use, to be applied on cuts, scrapes, bruises, burns, so the first aid kit should include: hydrogen peroxide solution, mild salicylic acid preparation, sterile gauze, adhesive dressings, bandages and elastic bandages.

Obviously it is better to protect yourself from burning than cure its effects afterwards so do not forget a sun tan cream or oil. Mosquito and tick repellent creams or liquids may also be useful.

And in case of bite you may need analgesic ointment (e.g. Naproxen, Piroxicam, Voltaren).

Antifungal preparation (e.g. zinc oxide, talc containing antifungal agents).

Apart from medicines, the first aid kit should also contain scissors, thermometer, adhesive plaster and disposable syringes.

The above set is only an example as you need different items for skiing holidays than for sunbathing in Greece.
